5134 – Vandalism and Theft

  • Vandalism is the damage or destruction of school property or the damage or destruction of personal property of students, school employees, or other individuals located on district property or on a district-sponsored activity or event.

    Theft is stealing or taking the property of the school district or stealing or taking the property of another student, faculty member, school employee, or other individual or entity while on school property or while participating in a district-sponsored activity or event. Any student determined by the District to have committed an act of vandalism or theft shall be subject to any of the following acts of discipline at the discretion of the superintendent or principal:

    a. Acts of vandalism or theft may be reported to law enforcement by administration.

    b. The student may be required to make repayment (restitution) to the school district or damaged individual for the damage or theft.

    c. In-school suspension or any other discipline deemed appropriate by the principal or superintendent.

    d. Suspension or expulsion, pursuant to CCSD Policy 5135.
